In addition to the development of innovative products, our R&D department also deals with the constant improvement and optimization of existing high-performance engine components. The focus is primarily on the piston, which is one of the most essential components of the engine.

Heading for load capacity increase while reducing weight, it is important to know how individual component geometries affect these properties. To exploit new potential and to increase the understanding of cross-connections of individual design elements, a parameter study was carried out with the help of FEA.

In order to achieve meaningful results, geometry evaluation is extremely important. Within these geometries, the life-critical areas are analyzed and evaluated using calculation software.

The data determined consequently provide information about the effects of the changed parameters on the component to be examined. With these findings, an even better understanding of the influencing variables on the piston is gained. The results of the investigation flow directly into the design of new products.
